TRIP WIRE is an indie rock band from San Francisco favoring tight harmonies and 3-minute songs with memorable hooks inspired by The Beatles, The Replacements, Guided By Voices and Teenage Fanclub among others. They have found a fan base in the resurgent Power Pop community and have had their songs included on the highly influential and widely regarded Power Pop compilations from Sweden’s ICE CREAM MAN and David Bash’s INTERNATIONAL POP OVERTHROW (IPO).
The two founding members of Trip Wire are Marty Schneider (The Midway Delta, The Campbell Apartment) and Bill Hunt (Captain Fatass, The Generous Grants). Through several lineup changes they have stayed together via a shared love of harmony and indie pop song craft honed over a 20-year career in the San Francisco music community.
The strength of their existing material and that of the songs they were working on for their current release “Cold Gas Giants” allowed them to replace their rhythm section with standout players Stu Shader on drums and Jeff Shelton on bass. Shader is a veteran drummer who has worked with members of Greg Kihn, Chuck Prophet, Santana & Steve Miller. Well known in the Power Pop community with his bands The Spinning Jennies & The Well Wishers, Shelton added a third song writer and new voice to the material as well as having mixed half of their new record at his Montserrat Studios.
